SUMMARY:Integrating Virtual Reality in Higher Education
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1568391181657{margin-bottom: 30px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]Immersive virtual reality (iVR) has tremendous potential for experiential learning in higher education. One of the challenges of remote teaching is providing context and hands-on learning. iVR may provide some solutions. Integrating iVR in higher education is not complex\, but it requires funding\, training and finding the right iVR experiences that can enhance learning and address what might otherwise be dangerous\, impossible\, impractical or expensive. Rob has integrated iVR for patient simulation\, explored iVR for teaching empathy and has used social VR for synchronized online learning. Currently\, Rob is the Immersive Technology Lead at Georgian College. He will share his lessons learned and how educators might start to explore iVR as a new medium for teaching and learning.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1602250878098{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”] \nWorkshop Learning Outcomes\nAt the end of this session\, participants will be able to:\n\nDescribe ways in which students can learn in VR\nDiscuss examples of simulation in VR and how this may contribute to experiential learning\nDiscuss examples of learning empathy in VR and its impact on teaching in the affective domain • List and describe “the six rights of VR integration”\nDescribe the importance of having a sound strategy for VR integration in higher education\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1602251237142{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”] \nPresenter(s)\nRob Theriault\, Georgian College\n  \n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1606146988296{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”] \nPresentation Files\n\nPresentation File (PDF)\nYouTube video\n\n  \n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row disable_element=”yes”][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_btn title=”Register for this Webinar” style=”custom” custom_background=”#5c068c” custom_text=”#ffffff” size=”lg” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.eventbrite.ca%2Fe%2F125968020741|title:Register%20for%20this%20Webinar|target:%20_blank|”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]
