SUMMARY:Listen Up: Podcasts as the new "Textbook"
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1568391181657{margin-bottom: 30px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]The workshop will explore how I shared my love of podcasts with my students and what I learned from doing so. Two years ago I was assigned a course with an expensive\, out-of-date textbook. I had a couple of weeks to prepare the syllabus and create an overall story for the course. The course itself required current thinking\, explored controversies and ways of storytelling. As a regular podcast listener\, I decided to integrate podcasts into the course as weekly “readings.” These eliminated the costly textbook and brought a new\, current thinking to my course. My session will explore what I as an educator learned from the experiment as well as student feedback. I will share some best practices for selecting podcasts as readings.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1578592327481{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”] \nWorkshop Learning Outcomes\n\nUse podcasts as a tool for student engagement\nSelect podcasts that are high quality\, accessible and engaging\nEvaluate podcasts as “texts” in the classroom\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1580754612816{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”] \nPresenters(s)\nAudrey Wubbenhorst\, Humber College\nLinkedInTwitter[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text] \nPresentation Files\n\nYouTube Video Link\nPresentation Slides (PDF)\n\n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row disable_element=”yes”][vc_column][vc_btn title=”Register for this Webinar” style=”custom” custom_background=”#5c068c” custom_text=”#ffffff” size=”lg” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.eventbrite.ca%2Fe%2Flisten-up-podcasts-as-the-new-textbook-registration-90302939523||target:%20_blank|”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
