SUMMARY:Strategies to Boost Learner Engagement in the Synchronous Online Learning Environment
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1568391181657{margin-bottom: 30px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]Synchronous online classes require instructor and students to be present online at a specific day and time. One of the advantages of this modality is the increased students’ connection to their instructor and peers (Watts\, 2016). However\, often instructors integrate less effective strategies (e.g.\, lecturing\, lack of structure) into their synchronous sessions\, which decreases engagement with the course. To boost student engagement requires finding the approach of translating the best online and face-to-face strategies into the synchronous online environment. Strategies presented at this workshop offer the potential for creating supportive spaces that increase students’ cognitive engagement in the synchronous online settings.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1578669418016{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”] \nWorkshop Learning Outcomes\n\nSuggest appropriate synchronous online learning strategies for specific scenarios\nCreate a list of instructional strategies to boost learner engagement in the synchronous online learning environment\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1578669387395{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”] \nPresenters(s)\nAnastassiya Yudintseva\, Mohawk College\n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1585186496943{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”] \nPresentation Files\n\nPresentation Slides\nPresentation Video (YouTube)\n\n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row disable_element=”yes”][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_btn title=”Register for this Webinar” style=”custom” custom_background=”#5c068c” custom_text=”#ffffff” size=”lg” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.eventbrite.ca%2Fe%2Fstrategies-to-boost-learner-engagement-in-synchronous-online-learning-registration-90311633527||target:%20_blank|”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]
